Description
The former lead mine, located approximately 300 metres northeast of Dene Howl Farm, dates from around the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and is currently roofless. The ruin consists of a rectangular building that reaches a maximum height of about 3 metres.
On the west side, there is an empty door with a flat stone lintel over wooden jambs. The structure is situated on an earth platform supported by a 2-metre-high retaining wall, which features vertical stone coping and an arch at the south made of voussoirs. The interior of the tunnel is visible for several metres. This site is a rare remnant of a significant industry in the area and was derelict at the time of the survey.
