Description

The byres and sheds at Demesnes Mill, shown on the Ordnance Survey as Demesnes Mill Farm, date from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings and feature a roof made of graduated stone slates with stone ridges. The building has an east-west orientation, with lower ranges projecting from the center and the east end. The main range is a single storey with four bays. The first three bays have boarded doors, with Dutch doors in the first and third bays, all featuring flat stone lintels. The fourth bay has a small horizontal six-pane light with a wooden lintel and stone sill. The left return has a small blocked light on the right side, with a stone lintel and sill, and pipe vents in the gable peak. The west elevation of the cart shed, which breaks forward from the third bay and partly obscures the door lintel, has double-boarded doors on the right and a blocked vehicle door on the left. The east cross-range, which also breaks forward from the end of the main building, has boarded doors. The first cross-range features swept eaves, while the second cross-range has a monopitch roof sloping down to the rear. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
