Description
The Leyburn tombs, located approximately 7 metres south of the nave of the Church of St. Ebba, consist of two chest tombs dating from around 1724 and 1795. They are made of sandstone ashlar. The first tomb commemorates Edward Leybourn, who died in 1724, along with members of his family up to 1873. It features panelled sides with corner and mid-side pilasters that are decorated with symbols of death, and a moulded top slab that includes an inscription. The second tomb is for James Leybourn, who died in 1795, and also includes members of his family up to 1839. This tomb is a plain stone chest with a moulded top slab and an inscription.
