Description

This listing describes a pair of gate piers and gates located 5 metres north of The Lodge in Castle Eden, dating from the mid-18th century. The gate piers are made of sandstone and feature a tall, square plan with chamfered edges, corniced caps, and ball finials. The wrought-iron gates are highly decorative, showcasing intricate scrollwork and foliage, along with a pair of central latticed panels that once displayed the monogram "R.B." for Rowland Burdon I.
