Description
New Ivesley Farmhouse, along with its adjoining byre and stables, is a farmhouse and outbuildings dating from the mid 18th century for the farmhouse and early 19th century for the outbuildings. The structures are built of coursed sandstone rubble, featuring renewed pantiled roofs and rebuilt brick chimneys. The farmhouse has a former stable on the right and a former byre, which has a loft above, on the left.
The farmhouse is two stories high and consists of two sections. The left section has two windows, flush quoins, a part-glazed late 20th century door, and a replaced 6-pane sash window to the left with a similar window above. It has a steeply-pitched roof and a chimney at the left end. The right section is lower and narrower, also with two windows, and it breaks back with replaced 6-pane sashes—one on the ground floor and two above. There is a chimney at the right end.
The one-story, two-bay stable features a 20th century boarded door on the left, a Dutch door on the right, and two replaced casement windows.
The two-story, four-bay byre, which is of two builds, also has flush quoins. It includes three 20th century Dutch doors and two window openings on the ground floor, with a single 6-pane casement window above. The rear of the byre is built partly into a bankside and has external stone stairs leading to a boarded door.
There is a late 20th century garage attached to the rear of the right section of the farmhouse, which is not of special interest.
