Description
The gate piers and gate located east of Hamsterley Hall date from the 18th century, with possible 19th-century coping. They were likely moved around 1930 from the entrance to the garden. The piers are made of sandstone ashlar and feature tall square shapes with chamfered rustication, plain stepped coping, and banded ball finials. The gate itself is a single round-headed design with spear-headed dog bars, central bars, and square-section uprights. It is flanked by baroque-style panels with scroll designs, and there is an overthrow in a similar style that has scrolls surrounding a circular panel.
