Description
The Pinnacle in the garden to the east of Hamsterley Hall is a garden ornament that was resited from the House of Commons. It dates from around 1840 and was designed by C. Barry. The pinnacle was transferred to Hamsterley around 1930. It is made of limestone ashlar and is designed in the Gothic style. The structure is hexagonal in shape, with a base featuring blind quatrefoil decoration. Above this, narrow pilasters frame panels that display heraldic devices and a cusped arcade. The pinnacle is topped with a slender ogee-domed finial that is decorated with crockets.
