Description

This house, now a shop, was built around 1870 and altered in the 1930s. It is constructed from thin courses of squared stone with ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof with yellow brick chimneys. The two-storey building has a four-window facade. The ground floor is a full-width shop front with a central recessed glazed door and plate glass windows. It features ashlar end pilasters and a full-width corniced fascia adorned with applied Roman capital letters reading `WILLIAM PEAT'. Canopies are supported by folding wrought-iron stays. The first floor has irregularly spaced plain sash windows, with the leftmost window being wider than the central pair. These windows have flat stone sills and lintels, and the central sashes have alternate-block jambs. The roof has tall end chimneys with dog-tooth cornices, and small, flush roof lights. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
