Description
The Burrall tomb, located approximately 6 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Michael, is a headstone dating from around 1743. It commemorates Robert Burrall, the son of Robert and Elizabeth Burrall of Thrislington, who died in 1742 or 1743. The tomb is made of sandstone ashlar and stands about 0.5 metres high, featuring a shaped top and a well-cut inscription. This tomb is included for its historical significance, both for its date and its connection to Thrislington, which was a 17th-century house that has since been demolished, and is situated near a deserted medieval village that has been excavated and descheduled.
