Description
High Greenwell Farmhouse and the attached barn are located in Ireshopeburn and date from the early 19th century, with some alterations. The farmhouse is constructed from coursed painted sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a stone-flagged roof. It is two storeys high and consists of six bays. The three-bay barn on the left has a central boarded Dutch door and a loft opening above with vertical glazing bars, while the outer bays are blank. The farmhouse has a central door with a three-pane overlight and a small square two-light window above. The outer bays contain sash windows with projecting stone sills, featuring a 16-pane window on the left and a late 19th-century window on the right. The house is topped with two ridge chimneys, and the right bay may be an addition, although details are obscured by paint.
