Description

The bridge located approximately 100 metres east of Witton Castle, along with the attached wall, dates from the early to mid-19th century. It features irregular courses of squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and ashlar piers. The bridge has a high segmental arch constructed with voussoirs, embattled parapets, and square piers on the north-east, north-west, and south-west sides, each with three-tiered coping chamfers. The wall, made from the same materials, extends from the south parapet in a curve to the south-west for about 80 metres, ending in a rusticated round pier.
