Description
This is a Dutch barn located approximately 60 metres north-east of Middle End farmhouse, likely built in the mid 19th century for the Raby Estate. The barn is constructed from limewashed rubble with large quoins and yellow brick dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. It has one high storey and consists of four bays, featuring four high arches with brick segmental heads.
The left and right returns of the barn have flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills above boarded rectangular openings in the gable peaks. Additionally, there is a cast iron rainwater gutter supported by iron eaves brackets, and iron clamps are present on the roof covering at the gable peaks.
