Description
The forecourt walls, piers, gates, and overthrow to Crown Court date from the early to mid-19th century. Constructed from sandstone, the low, coursed walls have gently-rounded coping and extend from the ends of the Court building wings to enclose the forecourt garden. Flanking the road in front of the Court are two pairs of tall round piers, each featuring a moulded plinth and cornice. At the north entrance to the garden, two lower piers support an overthrow and a lampholder. The gates and lampholders at the road entrances are missing, and there is a later wrought iron gate at the east end. Originally, the wall held railings, which have since been removed.
