Description
No. 13 The Bank is a house that has been converted into a shop and flat. It dates from the mid-18th century, with an early 19th-century shop front. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone, featuring painted projecting quoins and painted ashlar dressings, while the left side has been patched in brick. The roof is made of graduated dark slates, with stone gable copings and an ashlar chimney. The structure has three storeys and a two-window range.
There is a low painted stone surround for the boarded yard-passage door located on the right side. The shop front includes Tuscan pilasters supporting plate-glass windows, along with a recessed central half-glazed double door that has a blocked overlight. A fan ventilator has been inserted into the overlight. The shop front also features a plain full-width fascia and a prominent cornice. Above the shop, there are plain sash windows set in painted stone surrounds. The roof is finished with gable copings on moulded kneelers and has a chimney at the left end. The interior has not been inspected.
