Description

Beamish Burn Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse that originally served as a house, hind's cottage, and stable/byre. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with quoins and ashlar dressings, topped with a French tiled roof. The building stands two storeys high and features four bays for the house and cottage, along with three bays for the adjacent farm building. The farmhouse has boarded doors located under flat stone lintels at the center of the house, to the right of the cottage, and in the center of the farm building. The windows display varied fenestration, predominantly sashes with glazing bars, found in the outer bays of the house, to the left of the cottage, and flanking the farm building door. The first floor of the barn section includes a partly-glazed pitching door and vent slits. Ridge chimneys are positioned at the left of both the house and the cottage.
