Description

NZ 25 SW STANLEY BEAMISHBURN ROAD (West side) Beamish 8/156 Beamish Burn Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse, formerly house, hind's cottage and stable/byre. Late C18. Sandstone rubble with quoins and ashlar dressings; French tiled roof. 2 storeys, 4 bays to house and cottage and 3 to adjacent farm building. Boarded doors under flat stone lintels in centre of house, at right of cottage and in centre of farm building; varied fenestration, mostly sashes with glazing bars, in outer bays of house, at left of cottage and flanking farmbuilding door. First floor of barn part has partly-glazed pitching door, and vent slits. Ridge chimneys at left of house and cottage.
