Description
Flass Hall is a large house, now divided into two dwellings, dating to the late 17th century, with significant alterations from the mid-19th century and later additions to the rear. The exterior is rendered and painted masonry, topped by a roof of large Welsh slates, with rebuilt grey brick chimneys. The house follows a double-depth plan and is covered by a two-span roof.
The front elevation has two storeys plus an attic, spread across seven irregular bays. A renewed four-panel door is set within a raised stone surround featuring chamfered arrises, a horizontal cyma recta moulding, and a triangular stone hood. The ground floor windows are late 20th-century top-hung casements with flush rock-faced lintels and projecting sills. Five similar windows are located above, along with four half dormers. The roof is characterised by coped gables, small shaped kneelers, and end chimneys. The right return of the rear range incorporates an external stack. The left return has a small first-floor lancet window to the front range, and a mid-19th-century pointed three-light window, formerly from a chapel, under a hoodmould to the rear. A two-storey former service wing is visible, featuring late 20th-century window openings.
Inside, the entrance hall has both four- and eight-panel doors within moulded surrounds. Ground-floor rooms are distinguished by exposed ceiling beams of heavy scantling. A late 17th-century open-well staircase has turned balusters, square newels, and a square-section, moulded handrail.
