Description
The churchyard gates located 35 metres west of the Church of St. James are a pair of gates, posts, and an overthrow with a gas lampholder. They date from the late 19th century and have undergone some later repairs. The gates are made of wrought and cast iron, featuring bars with alternating pointed and spearhead standards. The posts stand on square bases and are designed with four corner bars and a taller central bar, all topped with spear-shaped finials. The overthrow, which springs from the posts, showcases simple scrollwork and includes a central hexagonal lantern with a crested base, top vent, and sloping panes. These gates are included for their group value.
