Description
Preston Lodge Farmhouse and the attached outbuilding were built in the late 18th century, with later alterations and rear additions. The farmhouse is constructed of narrow brick in an irregular English garden wall bond, featuring renewed pantiles and rendered brick chimneys. The rear additions have rubble masonry lower courses and renewed pantiles. The outbuilding also consists of narrow brick in irregular bond and has renewed pantiles.
The farmhouse is symmetrical, two stories high, and has three bays. It features a central, replaced, part-glazed door. The replaced top-hung casements have concrete sills and old gauged-brick flat arches. There is a double brick band at the eaves, and the steeply-pitched roof has raised verges and end chimneys.
The single-storey outbuilding has three breathers set high in the wall and a hipped roof. The rear wings of the farmhouse have mainly altered openings, while the back of the outbuilding has two blocked segmental arches with inserted Dutch doors. The farmhouse is linked to the outbuilding on the right by a short section of wall that includes a segmental-arched doorway.
