Description

Charley's Cross is a medieval cross base located at the west corner of the junction with Church Street. It is made of sandstone and features a square base that is approximately half a metre high, into which part of a square shaft is inserted. There is a small hole at the top of the shaft. This cross is believed to be one of several that marked the approaches to Durham.
