Description
This milestone, located approximately 100 metres north of Dene House, dates from the late 18th century and was part of the West Auckland to Corbridge turnpike. It is made of ashlar and has a quadrant-section block shape, standing about half a metre high, although it has fallen onto its back. The stone is inscribed with "WA 14" and "C 16" in Roman capitals, but the inscription is currently obscured by vegetation.
