Description
The Former Lodge to Shotley Spa is an entrance lodge that has been converted into a house, built around 1838 for Jonathan Richardson. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is one storey high and originally consists of three bays, with a fourth bay added later. The original structure has a central half-glazed door that has been renewed, situated beneath a label mould. On either side of the door, there are 2-light stone-mullioned casement windows with glazing bars, label moulds, and corner pilasters. The added right bay is designed in a similar style and uses matching materials. The roof is a low-pitched hipped design with wide eaves.
