Description
These walls and gate piers date to approximately 1860 and form the front boundary of Shotley House. The walls are constructed of coursed squared sandstone and have a chamfered ashlar coping, with the coping rising to a greater height on the left side, where a doorway is located, finished with a flat stone lintel. Two pairs of piers flank the house: the tall, square piers have plinths and cornices, and are topped with swept coping and ball finials. The structures are included on the register for their contribution to the group value of Shotley House.
