Description

Ivy House is a house dating to circa 1760. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, some of which are tooled, and has a concrete-tiled roof with stone gable coping on the right-hand side. The house is two storeys high and has three bays, with the first bay being narrower than the others. A partly-glazed door is located on the left-hand side, set within a wide stone surround with a square head under a relieving arch. The windows are late 19th-century sashes; the second bay has a tripartite window in a raised stone surround. The roof features a curved kneeler supporting the gable coping. Chimneys are located at the left end of the house, at the front between the second and third bays, and on the right-hand gable as an external stack. This building has group value from the perspective of its contribution to the surrounding area.
