Description
Stableyard Cottage, located to the south-west of Rokeby Park, is an 18th-century house built in two phases. The front is made of squared stone, while the other sides are constructed from rubble heightened with roughly-squared stone. It has a graduated Lakeland slate roof. The south elevation faces the stableyard and features two storeys with a total of four bays, arranged as one bay on the left and three bays on the right. The three right bays contain pointed-arched recesses that hold 4-pane sash windows with flat lintels, and there are similar windows with segmental heads on the first floor. The left bay includes a passage entrance with a timber lintel and a 6-pane sash window above. The roof is hipped, with a ridge stack located near the right end. The right return of the building shows a blocked slit vent.
