Description
The dovecote, located 150 metres south-west of Biddick Hall, is a small circular garden temple built around 1910. It features a stone stylobate and pedestals, with a painted wood structure topped by a copper-sheathed roof. The base has an octagonal plan and is supported by eight Roman Ionic columns on corniced pedestals with cyma-moulded plinths. The octagonal entablature includes a frieze with small round-arched entrance holes leading to the loft beneath the dome. The structure is topped with an ogee dome that has an iron vane, making it an unusual example of a dovecote.
