Description
The building known as the Applestore, located 15 metres southeast of Whitwell Grange House, is a detached farm building that may have served as an applestore. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and is constructed from coursed rubble with a pantiled roof. The structure has a square plan and is two stories high with one bay. It features roughly-squared quoins and a wide elliptical-arched opening with a brick head on the ground floor, along with a band between the storeys. The roof is pyramidal with overhanging eaves. A 20th-century ladder stair leads to a boarded door on the rear at the first floor. This building is included for its group value with nearby structures.
