Description

This milepost, located about 15 metres east of the junction to the road leading to Bondisle Way, dates from the mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular plan, standing approximately one metre high. The sloping top features low-relief lettering that reads "WEARDALE/ R.D." with a hand pointing to the right. On the east face, it indicates "ST. JOHN'S CHAPEL/ 8/ MILES," while the west face shows "WOLSINGHAM/ 5/ MILES," with a hand pointing to the left.
