Description
108 and 110 Galgate is a house that has been converted into a house, shop, and flat. It dates from the early 19th century and features late 19th-century alterations. The building is constructed from coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and has a Welsh slate roof with a stone ridge and chimney. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range, with the right bay being the widest.
There are flat stone lintels over paired doors on the left, with the first being a boarded passage door set in plain stone jambs. The shop front on the right includes a half-glazed recessed door, slender mullions, and a fascia with a cornice and canopy supported by hinged wrought-iron stays. The windows of No. 108 on the left have plain sashes with flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills, while No. 110 has a similar lintel above a sash window with glazing bars located above the shop. The low-pitched roof features a central chimney with a top band and rendered coping. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
