Description
The harbour walls of Sea Mills Docks, built around 1715 to 1720 by John Padmore, are constructed from rock-faced rubble. This site is historically significant as it features the first floating harbour on the River Avon, which has been in use since 1712. It was the third floating harbour in the country, following those in Rotherhithe and Liverpool. The docks served as a whaling station and were utilized by privateers until their closure in 1766.
