Description

Yarmouth Pier is a structure built in 1876 by local contractor J Denham of Freshwater. The pier is constructed of timber piers and extends 700 feet in length, featuring wooden handrails. Groups of four piers support a wooden platform, which also has wooden handrails and trellised supports. At the pier head, there is a small octagonal pavilion with a polygonal roof and a weathervane. The shore end includes a pavilion built around 1927, which has a brick curved gable with stone dressings, a cartouche of the Yarmouth Town Trust, two round-headed windows, and a double door. The sides of this pavilion are weatherboarded, and the roof is currently covered in asbestos slates.
