Description
King's House is a building that is entirely covered in stucco, likely applied over local rubble stone, and features a Welsh slate roof. It has an L-shaped plan, with the rear wing facing Hanbury Close and the main front facing Castle Street. The building has two storeys and cellars on Hanbury Close due to the sloping ground.
The Castle Street side has a central door set in a moulded case, accompanied by a rectangular fanlight and a hipped roof porch supported by slender columns. This is flanked by sash windows with six over six panes, with three additional windows above. Most of these features date from around 1800, except for the porch, which is likely from the 20th century. The roof is steep and hipped.
On the Hanbury Close side, there is also a central door located in a recessed porch with an elliptical head and a two-pane fanlight. This door is flanked by a six over six sash window on the right and a blind recessed panel on the left. Above, there are three windows: a two over two pane sash on the left and two modern casements with higher cills on the right. This elevation also features a hipped roof and a prominent multi-flue stack at the back. The rear elevation was not visible during the resurvey, but it is noted that the house has been divided into flats.
