Description
This is a tall, three-bay barn built of brick, located approximately 10 meters east of Treberren Farmhouse, with a one-bay extension made of rubble, likely serving as a lofted stable. The entire structure is covered with brown clay pantiles. The bricks used are handmade and feature a mix of red hues, including some burnt bricks. They are laid in a unique pattern of English bond, where the stretcher courses are interrupted by headers or groups of headers, and vice versa, with headers placed between stretchers.
The barn has a rectangular layout oriented on a north-south axis, with the rubble extension at the northern end. The central bay of the original barn features two full-height doorways, both with wooden jambs and lintels, but currently without doors. The southern bay has a high brick plinth that wraps around it. On the west front, this bay includes a very tall segmental-headed doorway with a board door, above which are a pair of tall and narrow breathers, with a single brick arching over their heads.
To the left of the wagon doorway, the adjacent bay has a pair of similar breathers on both levels, although the lower ones are blocked due to steps leading to a loft doorway in the northern bay. The southern gable wall has one similar breather at the upper level, and the rear wall features a pair of similar breathers on both levels of each bay, with those at the lower level of the southern bay being blocked.
The rubble-built northern bay has a stable door and a small window on the west front, with two narrow breathers above and a loft doorway where it connects to the brick section of the barn. Its northern gable includes a segmental-headed pitching door for the loft and an owl-hole at the apex. The rear of the barn shows signs of a former outbuilding and has altered openings.
