Description

Nos.47 & 49 Bridge Street

Fine former townhouse, now offices. Rendered and painted with slate roof with broad overhanging bracketed and boarded eaves and very long and narrow brick end stacks. Double-pile plan. Three storeys. Five-window range of 12-pane sashes in reveals with narrow glazing bars and shallow sills. Centre doorway with bracketed entablature hood and reeded pilasters, panelled reveals, recessed 6-panelled door with polygonal glazing to overlight. To right 2 similar sash windows; to left a tripartite sash and 4-panelled door at left end with plain overlight. Deep painted plinth. Sturdy iron railings with arrow-head finials and swept double gates on a stone kerb stretch from right end to left side of central doorway. Attached rough-cast wall at right side with arched carriage entrance to former yard at rear. Side elevation now fronting path has similar tripartite sashes; further sashes to rear.
