Description
The Garden House at The Argoed is a two-storey building constructed from squared red sandstone rubble, featuring ashlar dressings. The roof consists of stone slates on the lower courses and pantiles above. The structure is built into and on the garden wall. On the ground floor, there is an arched alcove that supports the steps leading to the house above. This alcove is square in plan and has a plain doorway with dressed jambs that extends up to the eaves. There is a plain two-light mullioned window on the left gable wall, which has a carved apron and appears to incorporate some stonework from around 1600. The roof is plain and gabled, with the base of a cross on the gable. The rear elevation is not visible, and the interior could not be inspected during the resurvey.
