Description
Church Farmhouse is a 2-storey building constructed from thin coursed sandstone rubble, topped with a concrete interlocking tile roof. The rectangular structure has a single depth block with two rooms and features a single-storey kitchen wing on the south gable, along with a washhouse positioned at right angles at the southwest corner.
The entrance front faces southeast and includes a blocked hall window beneath an oak lintel to the left of a later gabled porch, which contains a 17th-century plank door. To the right, there is an arched 2-light casement with a brick head, and two similar casements above under the eaves, all of which are Victorian in style. The roof is plain with end stacks; the right stack is rebuilt stone rubble, while two flues on the left are made of 19th-century brick. The gable end features a garret opening, although the diamond mullions noted in the 1955 list description have been removed. The other gable has a small fire stair window.
On the rear elevation, there is a 17th-century window opening with a 4-light casement and a label mould above it, alongside a plain 2-light casement to the right with an oak lintel. Above these are a 2-light and a 3-light casement, both from the 19th century. The kitchen wing includes a modern casement.
The interior was not available for inspection during the resurvey, but it appears that the house has been gutted and the stud-and-panel partition mentioned in the 1955 list description has been removed.
