Description
This is an agricultural labourers cottage built from whitewashed coursed rubble stone, featuring a corrugated asbestos roof and a stone end stack made of red brick. The cottage is a single storey with one room and a loft, along with a small integral lean-to on the right side.
The front of the cottage has one blocked window with a cambered head made of dressed stone, which includes a chevron pattern cut into the keystone, and a board door that has a similar head and keystone. There is a smaller window to the right in the lean-to, but the voussoirs and keystone have fallen out. The left lean-to was added later as an animal shelter, constructed with rubble stone for the back and side walls, while the front was originally open but has since been enclosed with corrugated iron.
At the time of inspection in December 1999, the cottage was derelict. It consists of one main room and a narrow unheated room in the lean-to on the right. There are stairs leading from the main room up to the loft, which was probably once illuminated by a dormer window. A chimney breast projects from the west wall, but it is disguised by the lean-to.
