Description
The Lion Inn is a building made of red sandstone rubble, with the south gable and a late 20th-century outshut rendered, and it features Welsh slate roofs. The main house has a two-storey and garret layout with a central entrance and a single depth plan, although this has been modified by the addition of two outshuts. The front elevation has three windows, all of which are 2 over 2 pane sashes set under timber lintels. There is a central entrance with a late 20th-century gabled porch, a plain door, and small side windows. The inner door is a replacement double door. The roof is steeply pitched with end stacks; the left gable has an external stack that may be an addition, while the right gable has an internal stack, both with two flues. The gable walls are blind. The rear elevation features a modern window on the upper floor next to the outshut, which has modern casements and a roof-light.
Inside, the ground floor has been altered to combine two rooms into one bar space, although the remains of the central passage are still visible. There is a central rear door leading to the cellar and a staircase. The fireplace on the south gable wall remains, while the north fireplace has been reconstructed. The upper floors were not seen during the resurvey.
