Description

Large rubblestone barn shown on 1830 Ordnance Survey map. Aligned roughly N/S. Formerly limewashed with Roman tile roof; ventilation slits, opposing doorways with large gabled porch to east incorporating unusual pointed arched entrance with stone voussoirs of alternating ashlar and narrow rubblestone blocks of contrasting colours; plank double doors to east, replaced to west; putlog holes. Open cattle shed with pantile roof built against SE wall and roof pitch probably raised to accommodate this. Pitching door in south gable; base courses here are battered. Roof has simple lightweight trusses with 2 rows of purlins staggered at principals.
