Description
The barn at Manor House Farm is a large rubblestone structure that appears on the 1830 Ordnance Survey map. It is aligned roughly north to south and was formerly limewashed, featuring a Roman tile roof. The barn includes ventilation slits and has opposing doorways, with a large gabled porch on the east side. This porch features an unusual pointed arched entrance made of stone voussoirs, alternating between ashlar and narrow rubblestone blocks of contrasting colours. The east side has plank double doors, while the doors on the west side have been replaced. The barn also has putlog holes.
Inside, there is an open cattle shed with a pantile roof built against the southeast wall, which likely caused the roof pitch to be raised. There is a pitching door in the south gable, and the base courses in this area are battered. The roof structure consists of simple lightweight trusses with two rows of purlins that are staggered at the principals.
