Description

Ty Mawr is a farmhouse featuring a rendered exterior and a slate roof, topped with three brick chimneys and two gabled dormers. The front of the house has four windows, with 2-light small-pane casements on the upper floor and 3-light casements on the ground floor. The front windows are set in moulded surrounds with keyblocks.

The entrance is located in the third bay and is sheltered by a gabled open porch. The right gable has two windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor. There is a block extending at right angles to the main structure that includes an entrance to the cellar and a broad window with a drip stone. The rear of this block features a gabled section with a single sash window. The rear of the main block has a single-storey lean-to with two broad modern windows, and above this, on the first floor, there are three older windows (with modern glazing), one of which has a hoodmould. The lean-to extension, which was formerly a kitchen, is made of exposed stone and is located on the left gable of the main block.

Inside, the entrance hall leads to a passage behind the fireplace of the original hall. At the rear, there is a 17th-century wooden stair with a newel post. To the right, there is a post and panel partition with a doorway that has a shaped head. The fireplaces in the original hall and parlour feature chamfered stone jambs, and a similar partition can be found upstairs.
