Description

The Lodge is a lodge house designed in the "Old English" style, built over two storeys with a two-window range on the main elevations. It features a plain tile roof with moulded bargeboards and a small ridge stack. The building showcases black and white detailing on the gables, with twinned dormer-like cross gables on the northwest front and paired gable ends on the northeast side facing the main road. The first floor is adorned with fishscale tile hanging, which sweeps out at the base, while the ground floor is constructed of snecked rubble. There is a plinth with a freestone band course and diamond leaded glazing throughout.

Prominently displayed on the northwest front is the Pegler family coat-of-arms within a square surround. Both sides of the building feature distinctive pointed and bracketed oriels topped with round arched glazing bars. On the northeast side, the right-hand window is a three-light design, pointed at the centre, and supported by a shaped bracket. Below this is a four-light squared oriel with a freestone base and a high transom, alongside a small square recessed light with a freestone surround and a scrolled lintel.

The front of the building includes a lean-to roof that spans a similar four-light bay and a central porch with a round arched entrance. The porch is panelled and leads to a panelled door with glazed upper lights and an overlight. To the right, there is a two-light cross-frame window with a freestone architrave, scrolled lintel, and a depressed ogee apron. The downhill southeast end has an asymmetrical gable featuring a two-light window on the first floor and a single light window on the ground floor, both with freestone architraves. The southwest gable end has a canted tie-beam.
