Description
Nos. 43 and 45 Old Market Street are a pair of houses featuring late Georgian frontages. They are attached at each side, with number 45 set back slightly to the left, but they share the same building and ridge line as number 47 on the right. The houses are rendered with scored roughcast and painted, topped by a steep-pitched slate roof with brick end stacks. Each house has a two-window range of 16-pane sash windows, which are slightly unevenly spaced, suggesting they may have earlier origins. Number 45 has a tripartite window on the ground floor, while number 43 features a shallow multi-pane bay window. There is a shared 20th-century hipped roof porch at the center. The front kerb is adorned with railings that have arrowhead and urn finials. The gate to number 45 is original with diamond bracing, while the gate to number 43 has been replaced.
