Description

The structure consists of a wall, gatepiers, and gates located beside the lodge at the entrance to Abergavenny Castle. It is made of coursed squared red sandstone semi-ashlar and wrought iron. The gatepiers are plain square with torus capping. The gates are double spiked and feature dog-bars. To the right, there is a curved wing wall topped with spike railings that leads to a secondary pier.
