Description

The tomb of Thomas Prichard, located in the churchyard of Penallt Old Church (St Mary's), is a large chest tomb made from Forest of Dean sandstone ashlar. It is surrounded by wrought iron railings set on a low stone wall. The railings feature spear heads with taller spikes on the main stanchions. The chest tomb includes corner balusters and has a raised panel on each face. The main inscription commemorates Thomas Prichard, who died in 1834. The capstone of the tomb is hipped and has a central ridge.
