Description
Pen Pye Farmhouse, also known as Pen-y-pye, is a small farmhouse dating from around 1600. It is constructed from whitewashed rubble stone and features a slate roof with stone end stacks, one of which has a brick cap. The building has two storeys. The south front includes a large square stack on the left and a smaller stack on the right, which has a moulded cap and water tabling. The first floor has two casement windows with 2+2 panes, while the ground floor features an entrance doorway with a boarded door. On the north elevation, the ground floor has a 19th-century six-pane horned sash window with a shallow flat timber lintel, alongside a blocked opening with a similar lintel to the right.
To the west gable, there are ruins of a timber-framed building, and to the east gable, there is a single-storey lean-to with a stone tile roof. The farmhouse has a one-unit plan with a gable entry. The 19th-century boarded entrance door faces a Tudor arched doorway leading to the lean-to. Inside, the ground floor features chamfered ceiling beams with hollow and fillet (Wern-hir) stops. There is a fireplace stair with a plank and batten door, as well as a winding stone stair. On the first floor, there is a chamfered fireplace lintel that also has similar stops.
