Description
The ruins of a barn at Llantarnam Abbey feature rubble stone walls and no roof. The structure is roughly symmetrical, with full-height entrances situated between rows of five long ashlar ventilation loops, each topped with tiny arches. The central entrance is flanked by piers that have plinth mouldings. To the right, there is an added lean-to. The right gable end wall includes a 19th-century ashlar Tudor-arched large entry, with a long vent loop to the right. The left end wall has three loops: two above and one in the apex. The rear of the barn has two buttresses with flying arches to the left and two-step buttresses on either side of the entrance.
Inside, the barn is covered in ivy and is partly collapsing. There are remains of timber lintels over the loop reveals.
