Description
Tympath House is a detached house featuring unpainted render and steep slate roofs with overhanging eaves and verges, adorned with fretted bargeboards. It is one and a half storeys tall and has a T-plan layout with a crosswing that projects to the right. The right side wall and rear end wall have stacks for the crosswing, while the main range has a truncated rear wall stack.
The windows are timber mullioned with casements and top lights, all featuring very small panes. The main range, which is set back to the left of the crosswing, includes a Gothic pointed doorway on the extreme right. This doorway has a plank door with cover strips, situated within a simple slate lean-to porch supported by two chamfered timber posts. To the left of the doorway is a three-light window with top lights, and above it, under a bargeboarded gable, is an eaves-breaking two-light window.
The crosswing boasts a bargeboarded gable and features a first-floor two-light window with top lights above a canted bay window that has a 1-2-1-light arrangement, all with top lights. The eaves are bracketted, and the bay has a three-sided slate roof. The right side wall and rear of the crosswing are constructed of exposed local rubble stone, complemented by terracotta quoins and window surrounds. The side wall chimney breast is corbelled out at the first floor on a moulded terracotta base, with the chimney shaft rebuilt in pale brick. The ground floor has a triple casement window with a moulded lintel and terracotta sides. The rear gable is made of rubble stone, with brick marking the chimney flue, and includes a first-floor two-light window with top lights and a ground floor right two-light window, both in terracotta surrounds. The chimney breast is corbelled out at the gable apex, featuring a rendered stack with two diagonally-set short shafts and plain bargeboards.
The rear of the main range has a truncated side-wall stack to the right, which is corbelled out at the first floor, and a door to the left with a casement pair above. The casement pair has a terracotta frame, while the door has a brick surround.
The interior of Tympath House is not available for inspection.
