Description
St James's Vicarage is a two-storey house built of squared limestone rubble with freestone quoins and dressings, likely made from Bath stone, and topped with a Welsh slate roof. It features a subtle inter-war domestic style with some Gothic elements. The house has four bays, with the entrance located in the second bay from the left. The third bay is set forward and topped with a wide gable. The windows consist of single sash, paired sash, and a canted bay with four sashes, all of which are 6 over 6 sashes set in plain reveals. The entrance bay has a slightly Gothic appearance, featuring a plank door framed by a 2-light mullioned window with pointed heads and lattice casements. The roof is tall and hipped, with two tall stone stacks that have weathering. There are paired sashes on each floor of the gable end. The rear elevation is similar but much plainer. The interior was not seen during the resurvey in November 1996.
