Description

This is a group of six asymmetrical cottages, numbered 1 to 11 (odd numbers, consecutive), located within Garden Suburbs. Built in the 20th century, the cottages accommodate the sloping site; number 1 is stepped up, while numbers 9 and 11 are stepped down. The cottages are pebbledashed, with tile dressings, and have tiled roofs with swept eaves and three ridge stacks, the central one being reduced in height. They are two storeys high. Numbers 1 and 7 feature wide, full-height gables with four-light, cambered-arched windows with brick sills on both floors. A gabled porch, decorated with tile kneelers and a side entrance, is present at number 1, mirroring the design at the other end of the group, at number 11. Numbers 3 and 5, and 9 and 11, have paired, lower gables, featuring three-light windows on the first floor and four-light windows on the ground floor of numbers 9 and 11. Splayed bays with tiled roofs are present at numbers 3 and 5, with hoods over the doorways of numbers 3 and 9, and porches at numbers 5 and 7. Some original leaded casement glazing has been retained, although the first-floor windows lack leaded glazing but retain their lights.
