Description
9 Garden Suburbs is part of an asymmetrical group of six cottages built in the early 20th century. The cottages are designed to accommodate a slope, with No 1 stepped up and Nos 9 and 11 stepped down. They feature a pebbledashed exterior with some tile dressings and a tiled roof with swept eaves, along with three ridge stacks, the central one being reduced in height. The cottages are two storeys tall.
Nos 1 and 7 have wide full-height gables that include four-light cambered-arched windows with brick sills on each floor. There is a gabled porch with decorative tile kneelers and a side entrance to No 1, which matches the entrance to No 11 at the opposite end. Nos 3 and 5, as well as Nos 9 and 11, have paired lower gables, with similar three-light windows on the first floor and four-light windows on the ground floor of Nos 9 and 11. Nos 3 and 5 feature splayed bays under tiled roofs, while Nos 3 and 9 have hoods over their doorways, and Nos 5 and 7 have porches. Some original leaded casement glazing has been retained, although there is no leaded glazing present.
