Description
The barn adjacent to Llancaiach Fawr is a long structure divided into two main sections. It is built of narrow coursed rubble, showing some signs of previous rendering, and has a Welsh slate roof. The northern barn unit, which is uphill and consists of five bays, features a central double door, ventilation squares, and a rectangular opening low on the left side. There is a small wing with a ventilation slit that is now roofless, attached at the upper end. A straight joint on the left side indicates an added range to the south, likely a stable with a hay loft. This section has two small cambered-headed windows with brick voussoirs, a door, and a loft opening above. The rear of this unit has an altered main double door opening and a later breeze block lean-to. The southern unit has three high-level ventilation slits for the loft, a doorway near the end with stable doors and a heavy stone lintel, and an attached lower wing featuring a wide cart or carriage arch.
